This past weekend I received a “Be Nice, Be Respectful” violation for “hate speech” on Quora.com. My appeal was rejected and my account may be terminated. I am in the process of backing up all of my work, and I will be reposting many of my writings here on my website in the coming months.

Yep, it seems like you just can’t express an opinion on this topic anymore unless it’s in agreement with the mainstream culture. Sexuality and identity are inseparable according to culture, so anything that’s not an approval of someone’s behavior is perceived as not an approval of someone’s identity, even someone’s existence. I’ve seen some tweets by LGBT people talking about how Christians think they should not be allowed to exist (yes, I’ve seen people say just that), because their sexuality is part of who they are, and without it, they’re not themselves.
Unfortunately, many of those same people don’t feel the need to extend that same courtesy to other people who feel that certain things they do or believe — such as religious beliefs — are a part of their personal identity. Instead it seems that sexuality is pretty much the only part of a person’s identity that can’t be criticized.
If you get the time a couple of currant affairs issues you may want to cover if you can do it without getting dinged for hate speech. First the 9 year old boy who committed suicide after bullied at school for coming out as gay. the parent hold a lot of the blame here. How can you know your so called sexual orientation when you haven’t reached sexual maturity. The media gets a lot of blame here for making being gay a normal and cool thing to an impressible 9 year old. Also Ontario Canada has supposedly past a law where how you feel about gay and gender issues can affect your parental rights. Keep fighting the good fight.
