I don’t feel led by the Holy Spirit to put out a video for Yom Terurah / Feast of Trumpets / Rosh Hashanah this year (2019)
Yom Terurah Is A Double Holiday
Rosh Hashanah means “head of the year” and falls at Yom Terurah, also known as the Feast of Trumpets. Every month there is a new moon (Rosh Chodesh, head of the month) and of course, that coincides with the Feast of Trumpets. I’ve already done a video about it in years past.
Check out the Yom Terurah / Yom Kippur / Feast of Trumpets playlist here:
Regardless, I feel like maybe a series would be in order next year like my Passover Series (which for whatever reason, people don’t watch.)
So today I’m watching what is available online from a New Testament perspective about Yom Terurah. Absolute garbage. There are so many nutty Hebrew Roots / Seventh Day Adventists online that are orgasming over their obsession with “Saturday is the Sabbath.”
The Sabbath is a shadow of Jesus Christ!
Jesus is our Sabbath Rest. That’s the whole point of the Sabbath – it’s a picture of us resting in Jesus’ finished work on the cross EVERY DAY for our salvation. I’m not saved by my work, but His work. We’re to worship God every day. The end.
But “Sun” Day Honors The Sun God?!
In Hebrew the days are called “1st day, second day, etc” so the stupid argument about “well we can’t worship Jesus on Sunday because in English ‘Sunday’ has the word ‘sun’ in it and some people used to worship the sun” is just that – stupid.
God’s Seven Biblical Feast Days
Before anyone asks, there are 7 Biblical Holy Days.
Spring Holy Days
- Pesach / Passover
- Unleavened Bread
- First Fruits
- Shavuot / Pentecost
Fall Holy Days
- Yom Terurah / Rosh Hashanah / Feast of Trumpets
- Yom Kippur / Day of Atonement
- Sukkot / Feast of Tabernacles / Feast of Booths
Should Christians Celebrate Purim or Chanukah?
Purim and Chanukah are not Biblical Feast Days commanded by God.
Esther 9:27 tells us that the Jews obligated themselves to celebrating this basically Civic holiday rather than it being commanded by God where it is a picture of Jesus.
Jesus wasn’t participating in Chanukah / Feast of Dedication as John 10:22 – 23 tells us that He was walking in the colonnade of Solomon during this time. He told the Jews that they didn’t recognize who He was and they tried to stone Him. This holiday was instituted in the year 165 B.C. by Judas Maccabeus to rededicate the Temple and then thanks to Kabbalah, they absorbed some pagan solstice nonsense about the sun and came up with the legend of the oil.
