Stop Downplaying Domestic Violence Threats

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO #CrackYourBible Fam

I MUST address this post from the private #CrackYourBible discussion page.

Question From Crack Your Bible Fam:

“I have a feeling that I’m supposed to give up trying to talk sense into my family member, and just stick to praying for him from a distance. My husband, his sister and I spent months going through a King James bible and writing the Greek/Hebrew/Aramaic words and their definitions in the boundaries on verses he didn’t understand before we gave it to him on his birthday.

He says that we have to watch the videos he shares or that we won’t be saved, he believes if you’re not baptized in the name of Jesus only that you’re not baptized (tried to tell him baptism of the Holy Spirit was most important, not the water) and he believes a beauty queen is supposed to be his wife, even against her will.

He’s threatened to murder or call Godly destruction down on the family members who disagree with him or call him out with scripture, and the beauty queen for filing a restraining order because he “knows God’s word more than anyone else alive.”

I had a dream two years ago that he was surrounded by demons and was proud of it, but I thought there was still hope.

Some of our family members close to him are having a crisis of faith because he CAN quote scripture at the drop of a hat, and it can seem like he knows what he’s talking about sometimes.

Do I continue correcting him with scripture or just hang back and pray? I feel like I should focus on our shared family, and give up on him directly for the time being. I’m just struggling with whether or not that’s really the right course to take.”

Believe People When They Tell You Their Plans

If anyone threatens violence or death on you or anyone else, BELIEVE THEM.

People end up dead because they don’t take threats seriously.

Go To The Police

Stop trying to argue Bible with people who threaten violence & file a police report. Cut contact with anyone who threatens violence towards you. Stop praying for God to do something and go utilize the resources He’s provided for your protection.

Satan Is A Murderer

“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” – John 8:44 ESV

Cut Fellowship

I am 100% serious. I don’t care if they’re your family. Cut fellowship with people who threaten to murder you. God will reach them another way.

Someone who claims to be Christian but wants to be like Satan would fall under “idolater.”

Scripture tells us to cut fellowship with people who claim to be Christian (NOT THE WORLD) but do these things.

” I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—  NOT AT ALL meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who BEARS THE NAME BROTHER if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one.  For what have I to do with judging  outsiders?  Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” – 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 ESV
